What is

Bulk Billed Examinations

When a doctor / provider bulk bills, it means that instead of billing you, they accept the MBS (Medicare Benefits Schedule) fee as payment, typically collecting between 85% and 100% of the MBS fee directly from Medicare. Providers who bulk bill results in their patients are not out of pocket.

A valid signed current referral form from your doctor is required. We accept all referral forms including those from other radiology practices.

  • Bulk billing does not always cover everything and everyone.

Medicare may not cover multiple services during a single visit.

  • WorkCover

We offer prompt, expert imaging assessment and provide easy access to a comprehensive range of image guided injections by very experienced specialist doctors.

We require a copy of the referral form, patient contact and insurance details.

What Are The

Benefits of Bulk Billing Imaging?

At Specialist Medical Imaging, we strive to provide convenient and affordable healthcare for our patients, which is why we offer bulk billing X-ray and other imaging services.

Here are some of the benefits of medical imaging bulk billing:

  • It saves you money.

The main benefit of bulk billing is an obvious one; it’s easier on your budget. With bulk billing, your healthcare provider collects most or all of the cost of your treatment from Medicare, saving you money that you can then spend on other things or save.

  • It makes healthcare more accessible.

More and more Australian patients are receiving the healthcare services they need without having to pay anything out of pocket than ever before, thanks to increasing bulk billing.

  • It contributes to earlier diagnoses.

This is particularly true when it comes to imaging services, which are so often used to diagnose serious conditions early, while they are still easily treatable. Being able to get the care you need when you need it can be a matter of life and death.

  • It saves you time.

Most of the time, when you are bulk billed, the process is swift and easy for you; the provider will swipe your Medicare card, you’ll sign a form, and be on your way. You won’t have to worry about paying anything upfront, and you won’t be billed for anything later.
